Ear wax (also called cerumen) is a natural waxy material that helps protect and lubricate the ear canal. Excessive build up of cerumen can cause symptoms of ear fullness, ear pain, pressure, hearing loss, ringing in the ear, among others. It can also interfere with use of hearing aids.
