Auditory Processing Evaluations

Auditory processing disorder (APD) is defined by difficulty processing speech despite having normal hearing, usually resulting from slower than normal maturity of the auditory pathways within the brain. People with APD often have difficulty hearing in noisy environments or when speech is not clear. They also have difficulties remembering auditory sequences or patterns, have a poor ability to learn information by listening and have difficulty following oral instructions. We can perform specialized testing in order to determine whether a person has APD and offer recommendations and monitoring of the auditory pathways accordingly.
